Come to this very unique event: the launch of the World Harmony Orchestra (whose members are professional musicians coming from all over the world), a concert raising funds for the Islington Centre for Refugees and Migrants where Romain Malan, artistic director of WHO, is a choir leader.
The theme is "All on a Journey", and all the pieces are related to refugees and exile:
'Romanian Folk Dances' by Bartok (who was a refugee),
-movements from Haydn 'Farewell' Symphony and 'Souvenir d'un lieu cher' by Tchaikovsky
-two world premieres by Arian, a Syrian refugee composer,
-songs written and composed by Sita Brahmachari and Romain Malan, inspired by the work of members of the art and writing workshop led by Sita Brahmachari and Jane Ray at Islington Centre for Refugees and Migrants (artworks will be displayed). This is going to be very special, as these songs will be performed by the refugee choir from the Centre itself, accompanied by the orchestra.
Food and drink will be on sale.
Tickets (8 pds) sold at the event or online:
All proceeds go to Islington Centre for Refugees and Migrants (after paying the musicians and various expenses). The audience can also donate to the Centre either at the event, or by following that link:

Following the enormous display of solidarity for Syrian Refugees from the British Public at the #RefugeesWelcome march on 12th September, we've decided to host a fundraising concert to further help those in need of assistance.
Come to St James's Church, Paddington on the 1st October at 7.45pm to hear an evening of music, introduced by the Green Party's London Mayoral Candidate, human rights and arts campaigner Sian Berry.
We have chosen to fundraise for two charities. The first is 'Hand in Hand for Syria', one of the few chaities to work within the country itself to provide assistance and humanitarian aid to those who need it most within the region.
"We take medical and humanitarian aid into 90% of the country, using our unique and extensive networks on the ground in Syria. We also implement aid funded by, and on behalf of, some of the worlds biggest aid agencies, who are unable to get into Syria themselves."
The second is Refugee Action, who do more low-key work - from helping refugees understand their rights to preventing refugee homelessness in the UK.
The Musical program will be taking us on a journey through War and Peace, utter desolation and hope.
From composers like Schnittke, Shostakovich, MacMillan to Tschaikowsky, Beethoven and Barber in a selection of breathtaking solo , chamber and string orchestra works.
The array of internationally renowned performers joining us on this occasion is spectacular.
